Results of final CITCO event of 2012

The final round of the Grand Prix for 2012 and the course was in excellent condition. We had 25 players, the weather was again dry, the scoring was very close with a standard scratch score of 15. Thanks to Mark Gillies for performing the starter’s duties.

In the SHRM matchplay semi-final Merve and Paolo played a very competitive match, which culminated in Merve completing a great up and down from a greenside bunker on the 9th to win the match. For those of us watching from the clubhouse it was a real treat to see the body language between them as they prepared and played their shots on the final green. Merve will be playing Johan in the final.

The NTP was won with an excellent shot on the 4th hole by Stefano and the longest drive by Craig. We had one guest Andrew King who with a score of 15 fought off all the other guests. The pink ball competition with the BBI (Bernard Biggar Index) coming into play, was highly competitive with three players – Bernard, Kieron and Ian Doherty – all tying on 10. However, it was Ian Doherty who, on an extended reverse count back, just managed to edge this highly sought after prize.

The round 10 places were all very close. Craig took third on countback with 15 points, Stephan Ayache second with 16 on countback and the winner was Paul Goes. There were a number of players trying to put together a final decent round to climb the overall leader board. However, none succeeded and our very deserved 2012 Grand Prix winner is Johnny Hill.

A special thank you to Andrew Paton for all his work this season in getting the starters in place and to Dave Winters, Johnny Hill and Ernest Foy for preparing, installing and applying the new automated scoring and handicap system. Thank you also to Luc for arranging the dinners after golf this year.

Please remember to put Saturday 6th October in your diaries for the KPMG individual in the morning and the Frogs annual dinner and award ceremony in the evening.

Ryder Cup tomorrow – we have an excellent chance to win this year !

Nick
