Results CITCO round 7 – Junglinster

In what should have been ideal conditions for golf and high scores expected the overall results of round 7 were somewhat lower than anticipated. Perhaps the slow, sanded greens or the worse than Canach rough was to blame. Anyway 26 members and one guest seemed to generally enjoy themselves. Thanks to Woodge for starting – maybe the low scores were due to the lack of beers on the first tee.

Both matchplay competitions are behind schedule and both need to be completed before the end of July with no exceptions so get to it.

Pairs sponsored by MIXvoip

Please get your pairs into Craig soonest – he will pair you up if you’re on your lonesome. Tee-offs from 17.30 next Tuesday at Canach.

CITCO Round 8

Ian Docherty is your starter for Canach on Wednesday 17 July. Email to come out next week.

The results

We were pleased to welcome back into the fold the Bottmeister fresh from his near level par round last Sunday – shame about the last but he’s available to talk you through it if you’re interested and even more so if you’re not. All he needs is a few scraps of your dinner – at least that’s all it took for him to announce the results this week. He asked me to say he is available for weddings and bar mitzvahs at very cheap rates.

Standard Scratch was 14 – only 5 people beat it shame on the rest of you.

CITCO

1. Stuart Rowlands 17 points
2. Stephane “The Bandit” Ayache 16 points on countback from
3. Woodge

For the record (as I’m one) the two who scored 15 were Craig and meeeee.

James Holland scored a commendable 14 points as the only guest and was duly rewarded with a fine sleeve of FROGS balls for his efforts.

In the absence of our regulars – does John Sutherland still have his clubs and has anyone seen Bernard – the pink ball almost went to Jess “the man in the suit” Have on 7 points but the clear winner with 5 was Phil Zimmer.

Overall we have a new leader – Stephane on 91 after only playing 5 events, Craig on 82 and yours truly on 76.

For the record Stephane has come down from 13.5 to 5.3 in 5 rounds. A lesson to us all perhaps.

See y’all on Tuesday 9th in Canach.

Results from round 7 of Race to Grand Ducal

The weather was wet and windy if you teed off early, from 6pm onwards it was lovely though….hope you early golfers have dried out….

Ernest (our starter) took the big prize on countback from Del Boy with 19pts, and Steve Brown collected third prize on 18 pts. Fantastic scoring, the handicapping agency apologise profusely for this outrage, their cards have been marked!

Longest was Jess and nearest was Steve B…well done to the prize winners, and a big thank you to our starter and our beloved sponsors….all hail Citco!!!

Round 8 is 27th July (YES IT IS A TUESDAY) and Craig Lambourghini Ferrari will be the starter….

Current status at the top is;
Jess leads by one point from Frank Maitry with Johnny Hill a little short of the mark….the rest of us have some work to do (Johan – i mean golf) if we are to catch these boys!

SHRM WORLD MATCHPLAY

Jerry Grbic is thru to the Semis, well done…his 8 points on Wednesday night was more than enough to knock out Johan.

He will be joined by;
Monty or Gillies.
Johnny Hill or Uncle Merve.
Del Boy or Paul Goes.

The SHRM golf balls are certainly producing some excellent scoring, no need for Pro V 1’s next year Bart !

Bart our (quiet, shy and nearly retired) sponsor is offering a chance of a lifetime to the winner, his executive cottage in the wilderness of Newfoundland….suitable for good golfers and flyfisherman, (who have all been knocked out).

The trophy is just a further reward to the all conquering champion, and Monty is bidding for a repeat of his 2009 success.

de VERE PAIRS

Next week sees the FROGS / de VERE Pairs event….we have a strong turn out with some more Golfedoutalcoholics threatening to play (I will ensure society handicaps are adhered to)….still some early tee times available, although watch out for wind and rain between 5pm and 6pm!

Thanks to our new sponsors….WOODGE is unavailable to defend his halve of the title, so who can wrestle the trophy from the 8 times champions Steve the Daddy Kaiser? (Not me, am playing with Merve).

CITCO final standings 2009 and result of round 10

Dear all,

Thanks to our great sponsors Citco for another magical Citco Grand Prix season. (please clap your hands).

What a finale…..well done Ian Doherty, winning on the night and moving into third place in the order of merit.
Steve Brown was beaten on countback (18 pts) which meant Johnny Sutherland with 17pts was fourth, losing out to Mark Gillies on countback (Aussies are used to finishing third – eg Tri Nations) i guess the Ashes wasn’t that bad a result after all.

Dave Hopwood Biggar picked up the worst score prize yet again….even Johnny Sutherland was heard commenting “Hoppy is really sh1t at this game, he should take a lesson or give it up”.

Ian Davy hit a glorious nearest the pin shot….nearly beaten by Stuart Rowlands, if only a few more worms stuck their head up around 30metres from the green….anyway, Botfield smashed the longest drive.

In the order of merit decider, Alan Botfield needed to shoot 16pts to tie Craig Ferreira….with three holes remaining, Botfield needed three pars to win outright….but made only one par….Craig won on 80, Botfield second on 79, Ian D third on 78, and Gillies and Brown finished on 77…Goes and Winters 76, Tim van Dijk, Fred Sudret and Adrian Roadway on 75….Luc de Citco and KPMG Dennis on 74…

3 club challenge (two clubs and a putter) is back at Grand Ducal on Thursday 3rd Sept…we need a starter….apply within!

KPMG individuals is on Saturday 19th, Mr David Winters will be your starter (9.30 – 11am at Canach).

FROGs dinner is at Villa d’Este 8pm on Sept 19th after the individuals…let Nick Montague know if you are coming and if you are bringing a partner….

Let’s finish the season in style….i want you all to make a very special effort in your dress code for the three club challenge, otherwise Paolo Tarakdjian will win the best dressed player of the year award….

That’s pretty much it guys….congrats to Craig and the prize winners….

Results from round 6 of the CITCO Grand Prix 2009

Here are the results from last night…a big thank you to our sponsors CITCO…without whom the fabulous prizes would not be so fabulous !

The winner of the illuminous yellow golf bag was….with 17pts…..Mr Ian Davy.
The winner of the t-shirt was…with 16pts….Mr Hopwood.
Third place and a voucher was…with 16pts….Mr SHRM d’Ancona.
Nick Montague won the Nearest the Pin and Mark Gillies hit the monster drive…

Last place had to go to Tim Tobin, aren’t rules stupid, the more deserving winner would have been Tony Sportsman Nightingale both managed 7 pts !

Thanks to Paul Goes who acted as starter and then lost to Mr SHRM d’Ancona in the BART Matchplay….2&1….at least he got a free meal !!!

Dennis Robertson, another sponsor, is sitting on top of the Order of Merit, but it is wide open this year….4 events remain !!!

I need a volunteer for starters at Junglinster on the 15th and 29th July….don’t be shy !!!!

Halfway stage results from the CITCO Grand Prix 2009

Delayed information as the webmaster was not informed…

Quoting Mr Botfield:
“Well done to all participants in Saarbrucken last night…what a fantastic meal….well done Jonny Hill for an excellent trip !!!!

Last night was the half way stage of the CITCO Grand Prix (see attached leaderboard, yep it’s Botfield on Top)….many thanks to our beloved sponsors, it’s brewing up for another tight end of season battle and even Mr Biggar is still in the hunt….come on everyone, fantastic prizes and honours are still up for grab for all of us underachievers (that’s how Bart refers to us all)…..

Botfield found some form and scored 18 pts, narrowly beating Gillies 17 and Luc (also 17) into 2nd and 3rd place…with Frank (Nearest the Pin) leaving before the prize giving and Gillies winning the shortest ever Longest Drive, these prizes were subsequently awarded to Dennis (16) and Winters (15)…will give a sleeve of FROG balls and maybe a glove too to Frank next time out !!!

Last place went to the man who lost his wallet, Mr TIM TOBIN with 8 pts, but given his state of distress about the lost wallet, it was tempting to name and shame the 2nd worst player of the night (MR CRAIG FERREIRA “phone number deleted”) but of course the rules of this society means that i can’t give out that information…

A clean sweep of the only guest prize was performed with an amazing 18 pts from Serge Bijnens, who was suitably rewarded with a FROGs t-shirt and balls and in addition a one and half stroke cut to his handicap !!! Welcome back Serge !!!

No more FROG events in June, but unhook those caravans…round 6 of CITCO Grand Prix is on July 1st at Preisch and it will NOT be played on the German 9 !!! Round 7 is set for Junglinster on the 15th and Round 8 also Junglinster on the 29th !!!

In between we have the famous “LAB Pairs falling out with your partner if he is called Steve Brown” competition at Canach on 22nd) (Steve, will you be my partner again this year?) Sort yourself into pairs, you still have a few weeks to ditch one another…also the RYDER CUP will be held at Canach on the 25th…the FROGS have won it ONCE and it has been played for at least three times….it is our DESTINY….FREEDOM YA BAS !!!!
Sorry a wave of patriotism has swept me of my feet and filled my eyes with tears….maybe just hayfever…back to normal now…

Finally in the SHRM matchplay, one result from last night saw Botfield beating Gillies on the last hole…see schedule attached and get your ties played very soon as it is the holiday season coming up !!!!

Anything that i have forgotten is nothing to do with ignorance…but if it is due to sheer arrogance, then i don’t apologise for that !!!”

Results of second round of the CITCO Grand Prix 2009 at Preisch

Top man on the night was King Frog 2008, Mr Nick Montague with a fine 17pts, beating Stavros on countback. As Stavros could not take his place on the podium, his prize went to Craig Ferreira with 16pts….meaning the 4th place man for the second week running picked up a prize after all. Well done Duncan Tippin, just 15 pts and he now leads the way in the quest to become KING FROG 2009. Can you catch him?

Delboy hit his first drive just 3 metres….his second shot of the night was still behind the red tees….AND he still went on to win the Longest Drive prize.
Dennis Robertson amazed everyone, including himself, by hitting a fine tee shot on the 6th to win the Nearest the Pin prize.

Worst score on the night was Psycho Geoffreys, an astonishing 5 pts. A further prize was awarded to our young guest for playing in the FROGS, a sleeve of balls to Tom (just a kid) Darby.

2) The SHRM matchplay is nearing the end of Round 1 with another 5 results decided on the night.
A collapse from Psycho allows Frank Maitry to continue in the competition, Craig hammered Jess, Jonathan Hill overcame Ian Davy, Bart bullied Paolo and Alan Botfield finished off Neil Underwood on the last hole. Last week Nick knocked out Andrew, and from what i saw last night, Andrew is making a slow recovery….

Three first round matches still remain to be contested, Frank and Ayzo, Mark and Steve and Marco and Dave….the clock is ticking, get your results in as soon as possible !
